Support

Once you’re approved to foster, your local council will guide you through what happens next. They’ll make sure you have everything you need for the first child or children who you'll care for.

You’ll have support from your local council throughout your time as a foster carer. They’ll help you give the best possible care to the child and support your own wellbeing too.

Support from your local council

You can talk to your social worker at any time to:

  • get supervision and feedback
  • arrange any training you may wish
  • answer your questions
  • talk about any concerns you have

"I'm continually learning from our social worker and other carers through regular training sessions or just grabbing a coffee. Everyone has the same goal to ensure that the children are cared for and have stability alongside, and that the carers have the tools they need to create that safe haven."

Jo White, a foster carer in Perth and Kinross.
